The Spring XARC Fox Hunt will take place on Saturday May 10th at 9:30
AM during National Foxhunting Weekend. Registration begins at 9:00AM
at Mendon Ponds Park in Pittsford. The start location is just south of
the beach and Stewart Lodge, and north of the boat launch.

Here are the rules:
1. Any pre-hunt announcements or venue changes will be via the
XARC 145.290 repeater (negative offset, no PL tone) starting at 0830
the morning of the hunt. Be listening!

2. Pre-hunt registration will begin at 9:00AM.

3. The hunt will start promptly at 09:30AM

4. The fox will transmit on the 2 meter (144-148 MHz) ham
band.

5. Modulation is FM; antenna polarization vertical;
transmissions may be intermittent in nature.

6. The foxes will be located within a 12 mile radius of the
starting point.

7. The fox signal will be copy-able at the start of
the hunt by the consensus of all present.

8. Team sizes will be limited to a maximum of 3 "active"
hunting members. A team may have non-hunting members (observers) but
they must not be actively looking for the fox.

9. Hunting can be conducted from the vehicle of your choice but
only one vehicle per team.

10. Transmitting on the fox frequency is strictly prohibited.

11. The fox will be located in an area open to the public. Unlawful
trespass is prohibited.

12. After finding a fox, do NOT announce it in any way. Others may
be still looking!

13. On finding the fox, remove the lowest numbered tag.  There may be
further instructions (like lunch location) on the tag.

14. Defacing, altering, moving, hiding, or obscuring the fox is
prohibited.

15. Awards will be presented to the first teams to find
the fox.

17. To ensure good humor and fair play, hunt masters may make
additional rules.

18. Any "hunting hints" will be given on the 145.290 XARC repeater
at the top and or bottom of the hour.

19. As always, all decisions of the hunt masters are final.

20. Good luck, hunt safely, and have fun!

Please dress appropriately for the weather and season. We hope that
this hunt will appeal to a wide range of skills and be very enjoyable
to all.
