Renew FCC License
There are 4 methods to renew your license: 1) use the RARA VEC
Team, 2) using another VEC team such as W5YI, 3) by the FCC
online, 4) by US mail using form 605.
There is no fee if you do it yourself, except for vanity
renewals. You can renew only
in the last 90 days of your license term. After that date you
have
a 2 year grace period to apply for reinstating your
license.
ARRL members can elect to be reminded before their license
expires. Detailed enewal information is on the FCC
renewal web site.
1. Renew using RARA's VEC Team: http://www.rochesterham.org/raratest.htm
This is painless! Get Quick Form 605 from the VEC
team
and mail it in.
2. Renew using another VEC Team:
The W5YI team has a service which mails you renewal
information
4 months in advance of your license expiration. Renewing by W5YI
costs $6.00.
3. Renew using the online FCC Web Site: http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/
This method starts by applying for a FCC Registration
Number
(FRN). You then proceed to apply for renewal on-line.
4. Renew by US mail using Form 605: http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/amateur/licensing/renewal.html#paper
Instructions at the web site appear complicated. It
uses
long form 605 and Schedule D attachment. Recommend using quick
form
605 obtained locally from our RARA VEC team.
