ROCHESTER AMATEUR RADIO ASSOCIATION

Amateur Radio Testing
(see also FCC License Renewal page)

A  license is required to operate an amateur radio transmitter.  The amateur radio license is issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).  Tests are administered according to FCC approved procedures and usually administered by qualified volunteer examiners.

RARA conducts amateur radio license testing on the 3rd Saturday of each month September 15, 2007 through April 19, 2008.  These tests cover all amateur radio elements as required for the Technician, General, and Extra class licenses.

Registration at 10:00 AM
Rochester Institute of Technology
Building 9, Room 3-139  (use the "J" parking lot)

Bring a pen and pencil, 2 forms of ID including one with a picture.  If applicable, bring your amateur radio license and a copy of it, and the originals and copies of any unexpired Certificates of  Completion of previous elements that you have passed and for which you want credit towards an upgrade. Please bring extra copies of any  paperwork that you might want included with your application.  We do not have access to a copier at the test site.  Application forms will be available. There is no exam fee!  All the incidental costs of providing test sessions are generously covered by the RARA Club.  Handicap applicants are welcomed.  Please notify us in advance if you need special arrangements.

Further information is available from:
  Raj Dewan, N2RD (703-4003)
