We host these licensing sessions twice annually, usually beginning in the end of January and the end of September. The classes are taught using the ARRL License Manuals, which will be ordered for you after registration and will be available by our second meeting if you don't already have your own current edition to use. There will be reading assignments and questions from these manuals and we will review topics covered in the reading assignments each week. There will also be demonstrations and guest instructors when possible. The very reasonable fees for the sessions are detailed below and the exam sessions are always free. Our instructors and examiners are all volunteers and we all will do our best see you trained, licensed, and ready to participate at whatever level of amateur radio you aspire to.
NOTE: A formal Morse Code session will no longer be offered due to changes in FCC regulations, however you can still obtain training through the Club by contacting Brad Armstrong to make arrangements with the instructors.
FEES: The cost the class for each individual will consist of a charge for the relevant ARRL License Manual, plus the cost of RARA club membership, plus a $4 nominal fee. The cost for the manual and/or the cost for the club membership will be waived for those who already have these. We charge $24 for the manuals, which is 95 cents less than cover price. RARA club membership is $15 for full members, $10 for senior members, and only $8 for associate members (individuals not currently licensed). RARA dues for each year expire October 31st of that year. If you have already attempted a course and did not pass the exam then you can retake the same level course with no registration fee.
