HELP WANTED: A FEW ELMERS (mentors)
Want to have a positive impact on ham radio without much effort? We need experienced hams who would be willing to give a couple of hours once in a while to help new hams. Pick a time and a setting of your choosing. The only cost to you is a little time, and maybe some coffee. You'll be rewarded with a new friend and satisfaction of returning something to the hobby.
You might invite a ham to your shack for a couple of QSO's, go to his shack to help him with a problem, or meet at a restaurant for a chat about ham radio. In many cases, just answering an email or two would be all that's required. Knowledge that you built up over the years is needed by a fledgling ham. Your advice would be appreciated and probably passed on to other new hams down the road.
No, you won't become famous, but you may be remembered as the person that got a new ham started.
