Amateur radio operators used their radios and repeater to arrange a contact between the Mayor's office and the students in their class room on March 1st, 2000 and again on March 31, 2003.

The QSO went very well.  Although we only expected the Mayor to be available for about 10 minutes, he answered questions from the students for approximately 20 minutes and was willing to spend more time if the students had more questions. The Mayor was very interested in the Radio Coaches program and asked several question to better understand our program. The Mayor enjoyed talking to the students and said several times the students asked very good questions.

This was a very positive event for both the Mayor and the students. I asked the Mayor if he would be willing to do this again and he responded positively. Depending on his availability, I'm sure the Mayor will schedule his time for the Radio Coaches in the future.
